Specialist Groups

Specialist Groups

The perfect setting for any clubs and societies that wish to meet. We can offer affordable group accomodation and many groups and gatherings return to us year after year, to enjoy the walking, cycling and many attractions that this area has to offer.

We have excellent local connections with specialist tutors, and local activity providers that are more than happy to assist you in planning your visit, tailored to specific requirements.

Societies and Clubs

With our dining room being the largest social room in the Youth Hostel, it provides a perfect setting for any clubs and societies that wish to meet. As a result of the superb acoustics within the building and the quiet surroundings, the hostel is being used increasingly by music groups and choirs. For those who wish to capture the natural wilderness that Northumberland holds, photographic opportunities are all around you, and our Youth Hostel makes it easy to connect with Wi-Fi available throughout the building.

In addition, our kitchen facilities are fully equipped for self-catering, thus making it easy and accessible for tea and coffee facilities for many societies and clubs, as well as lunches, for those that intend to use the hostel for most of the day.

Walking and Cycling

You only have to step outside to stumble upon a route that promises excellent views, and an enjoyable tour of the countryside. For those intrepid walkers who appreciate a challenge, St Cuthbert's Way that stretches across the Scottish Borders, from Melrose Abbey to Lindisfarne, travels straight through Wooler, with the Youth Hostel being only a small detour from the route. Being on the edge of Northumberland National Park, we anticipate a variety of visitors, such as climbing and bouldering groups. There is a well-stocked laundry room with washing machines and a racked drying room; so whether you've been walking, climbing or cycling in rain or shine, WYH are able to ensure you have a dry and comfortable stay!
We are delighted that so many groups and gatherings return to us year after year, to enjoy the walking cycling and many attractions that this area has to offer.
